چکیده

We present conspicuous activities of plasma ejections along a light bridge of a stable and mature sunspot in NOAA 8971 on 2000 May 02. We found the ejections both in the Hα (10 K) images obtained with the Domeless Solar Telescope (DST) at Hida Observatory, and in the 171 Å (Fe ix/x, ∼106 K) images obtained with the Transition Region and Coronal Explorer (TRACE). Main characteristics of the ejections are as follows: (1)Ejections occur intermittently and recurrently, (2)The velocities and the timings of the 171Å-ejections are the same as those of Hα ejections, (3)The appearance of ejections are different from one another, i.e. the Hα ejections have jet-like appearance, while that of 171Å-ejections is like a loop. Formation Process of a Light Bridge Revealed with the Hinode Solar Optical Telescope

The Solar Optical Telescope (SOT) aboardHINODE successfully and continuously observed a formation process of a light bridge in a matured sunspot of the NOAA active region 10923 for several days with high spatial resolution. During its formation, many umbral dots were observed emerging from the leading edges of penumbral filaments, and intruding into the umbra rapidly. The precursor of the light...

A study on Ca II 854.2 nm emission in a sunspot umbra using a thin cloud model

In the present work, we introduce and explain a method of solution of the radiative transfer equation based on a thin cloud model. The efficiency of this method to retrieve dynamical chromospheric parameters from Stokes I profiles of Ca II 854.2 nm line showing spectral emission is investigated. The analyzed data were recorded with the Crisp Imaging Spectro-Polarimeter (CRISP) at Swedish 1-m So...

The dependence of the magnetic field strength of a sunspot umbra on its intensity and brightness temperature

A partial decrease of the convective energy by the magnetic field of a sunspot causes the temperature of the magnetized plasma to decrease and this leads to a magneto-hydrostatic equilibrium. Thus, we expect a strong relation between magnetic field strength of a sunspot and its temperature/brightness. Here, we investigate this relation in the umbra of the large sunspot in NOAA10930 using spectr...

Are Neutral Sunspot Winds Important for Penumbral Dynamics and the First Ionization Potential Effect?

The low ionization state in parts of a sunspot may play an important role in its evolution and dynamical state. The cool magnetic interior region of the sunspot develops a substantial neutral atomic and molecular hydrogen osmotic pressure which can drive a wind outward from the umbra. Ambipolar diffusion against the magnetically pinned ionized plasma component can also distort the umbral magnet...

Observations of Running Waves in a Sunspot Chromosphere

Spectropolarimetric time series data of the primary spot of active region NOAA 9448 were obtained in the Si i 10827 Å line and the He i 10830 Å multiplet with the Tenerife Infrared Polarimeter. Throughout the time series the spectrograph slit was fixed over a region covering umbra, a light bridge, penumbra, and quiet sun. We present speeds of running penumbral waves in the chromosphere, their r...
